Scrapbook Page With Wood Words

Pete & I were able to travel to Texas last month to attend the graduation of our son, Ben, from Sunset International Bible Institute.  It was a fantastic weekend, in many ways.  And so I want to memorialize it on a scrapbook page so that for years to come, I can look back and  remember what a blessed time it was.

I sat down with my stack of photos & my supplies & and got to work, creating two 2-page spreads.  Here is what I chose to with:

Here is a simple stamping tip that I used to help put these pages together fairly quickly:

SIMPLE STAMPING TIP #3 --- Look for elements (colors, accents, etc.) in your photos that you can repeat on your page.

When I looked at the photos that I wanted to use, I noticed a lot of blue, and little bits of red & yellow.  I also noticed that wood was a part of some of the photos (the table, the wall, the old house) and I realized that the Wood Textures paper from Stampin' Up would be perfect to use.  Here is a closer view of that paper:

It comes in a pack of 48 double-sided 6" x 6" sheets.  As you can see, it includes several varying shades & textures of wood, ranging from smooth & finished, to rough & distressed.  And there are a few sheets with the stacked wood and the tree rings, which seems to be a trendy thing at the moment.  This pack of paper is priced at $10 and I can see endless ways of using it.  (You'll be seeing a lot of it here on my blog!)

The Wood Words stamp set is the same set that I showed here last week in making my July cards.

I thought that the small images seemed to match the rustic feel in my photos.

I used the same colors and embellishments on both pages to tie them together, since they were both from the same trip.

Do you have any plans for travelling this summer?  Even short weekend trips are worth documenting and it doesn't require a lot of time or money to get your photos in a scrapbook!  Our Stampin' Up catalog is full of products to help you.  I still have a few copies that I can give away, so let me know if you would like one.  You can email me at godismydelight@yahoo.com.  Or you can browse the catalog by clicking on the catalog image in the right margin.

Thanks for stopping by today . . . I'll be back next Thursday with another simple stamping tip!

Cards for July (with Wood Words)

Are you a card-sender?  I enjoy sending cards to many people on a regular basis and knowing that I am brightening up someone's day when my card is found in their mailbox!  Included on my list are:  my mom, my son & his family who live hundreds of miles away, my aunt who is in an Alzheimer's care facility, a man from our church who is in a nursing home, friends & family who are celebrating birthdays.  And I like to make extra cards to have on hand to send to people as thank-you notes or just to say "hello".

SIMPLE STAMPING TIP #2 --- Stamp a stack of cards each month to have ready to send.

Last Sunday afternoon I sat down at my desk with these supplies and made eight of the cards that are pictured above.  I usually try to make cards that go along with the particular month, as far as colors or themes.  Sometimes I make both masculine & feminine cards.

Here is a closer look at the stamp set that I used.  Wood Words is a new set in this year's annual catalog.  I bought this set because of it's versatility and it's rustic charm.  In fact, I am planning to feature this set again next week here on the blog, on a scrapbook page.

Another item that I used was the blue gingham ribbon, another new item in this year's catalog.  This ribbon says "summer" to me and I know that I will be using it on many other cards.

If you haven't already subscribed, take a minute and fill in your name & email in the "follow by email" box on the right.  Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Birthday Card

(This card features the Stylized Birthday stamp and the Delightful Daisy designer series paper.)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!  I am looking forward to sharing my simple stamping tips with you here each Thursday.

Here is my tip for this week:

SIMPLE STAMPING TIP #1 ---- Copy a design from our catalog; modify if needed to fit your own style or the supplies you have on hand.

I recently received my copy of the 2017-18 Stampin' Up catalog.  I was excited to see so many new stamp sets, paper collections, and other accessories!   As I was flipping through the pages, the simple design of this card (the second one down) caught my eye:

I modified it just a bit by substituting navy cardstock as the base and using some similar ribbon.  The "happy birthday" is stamped directly onto the patterned paper.  It only took me about 10 minutes to make this card, and probably 3 of those minutes were spent tying the ribbon!  I made this card especially for my mother-in-law.

Would you like to have a copy of this beautiful new 233-page catalog?  I have 7 copies to give away.  Send me an email, with your name & address, at godismydelight@yahoo.com and I will be happy to put one in mail to you.  Then you too can copy your favorite designs for your own projects!
